Welding Shizuko Japan 2007

Chance Pollo from Eastern Wyoming College completed the contest in 7th position out of 26 countries competition in Welding. He won best of Nation for TeamUSA and a Medallion for Excellence in scoring over 500 points on a 600-point scale. Gold medals went to Canada, Korea and Japan with scores of 536, 535, and 534 respectively. With only 2 points separating the top three competitors they all received gold medals but no silver or bronze medals are then awards. Chance scored 521 points. He did an outstanding job but missed a Radiograph on a 5G-pipe joint and a root bend test on a 3G plate. Having to use equipment and filler metals he was not familiar with did not work in his favor. But many of the other countries had similar difficulties.
